Dumbiedykes Playground Edinburgh

{Edinburgh} Dumbiedykes – A Playground with a View

Following on from yesterday’s post about my son’s resolution to visit as many different playgrounds this year as he can, here’s our first playground review from our New Year’s Day walk. Dumbiedykes Playground is set in Holyrood Park, between Dumbiedykes Road and Queen’s Drive. Our walk had led us down the length of the Royal Mile, and we were heading back home from the Scottish Parliament, via Holyrood Park towards Newington, when we passed the playground.

Although it looked like there were a few pieces missing, the playground still had a decent enough amount of equipment. There was a section for toddlers, with baby swings and a small climbing structure with slide, and a section for older children with regular swings and another bigger climbing structure also with a slide. Overall, it maybe looked a little unloved but it seemed clean and the stunning views of Salisbury Crags and Holyrood Park are definitely its winning factor.

Our verdict was that if you lived in this part of town it was a good playground to have near your house, or if you were visiting Holyrood Park it was definitely worth stopping off here for a break to play, but we felt it was probably not worth a trip across town just to visit the playground. Mr Fox gave it a rating of one thumbs up.
