Victoria Park Playground

{Edinburgh} Victoria Park Playground

Today we have another brilliant playground review to share with you, which I already alluded to last week. Victoria Park was top of our list of playgrounds to try next, after having been recommended multiple times, and it did not disappoint. Victoria Park is situated in the north of Edinburgh, and actually has several play areas. In the south-east corner of the park, there is a small play area for toddlers. In the south-west corner of the park, there are fenced in courts for ball games including football and basketball, as well as a tennis court. And right in the middle of the park, there is a playground which as soon as my 8 year old saw it he immediately decided it would be getting a double thumbs up, before he had even tried anything.

Victoria Park Playground

With the exception of a basket swing, the entire rest of the playground is one big, interconnected play structure. There are climbing walls and other climbing features, a hanging walkway, several slides, various types of monkey bars, a noughts & crosses game, a rolling barrel, balancing feature, and more. It was very busy, so quite tricky to get an overview of everything and take pictures without other people’s children in them!

There’s benches and picnic tables, one of them with a chess board (thought you’d have to bring your own chess pieces). There’s also a coffee van parked right next to the playground, selling hot drinks and sweets treats, which has some chairs and tables too. The only downside to Victoria Park is that there don’t seem to be any toilets nearby, so do keep that in mind if you make a trip out there. We definitely enjoyed our visit though, and it was well worth a trip across town for. Double thumbs up indeed!
