Book Tour: Dragons Love Underpants

Kids love underpants. They think underpants are hilarious. They think books about underpants are hilarious. My youngest even went to school one year, wearing a pair of (clean!) underpants on his head for World Book Day, because his favourite book at the time was about underpants. It’s no wonder then, that Claire Freedman & Ben Cort’s underpants picture book series is so popular. It started with Aliens Love Underpants. Since then, they’ve given us underpants loving dinosaurs, pirates and monsters and now, the latest in the series, Dragons Love Underpants!

Dragons Love Underpants

Huge scaly DRAGONS roamed the land

In long gone Days of Olde.

They LOVED to wear big underpants

In colours bright and bold.

The problem? Pants are flammable, so after burning holes through all their undies, the dragons embark on a knicker-nicking adventure through the Kingdom of Pantasia. Soon the villagers are fleeing in fear, desperate to hold on to their smalls.

With silly names like King Top-Bot and Sir Y-Front, a daring kidnapping, a useless knight, and a brave princess who saves the day, this hilarious story will have kids laughing out loud. There’s a clever twist at the end, which gives every one a happily ever after, but no spoilers – you’ll have to read it to find out!

I do love a book with a strong female lead – not only is Princess Tilly clever, she also knuckles down and gets things done herself. You won’t find any damsels in distress waiting to be rescued in this book – it’s the damsels doing the rescuing! Throw in some colourful underpants to please the kids, and you’ve got yourself a winner.

For even more pants-tastic fun, you can download a copy of the free Dragons Love Underpants Activity Pack, which includes puzzles such as a word search, spot the difference and find the odd one out, as well as a drawing competition to design your own underpants and win a set of books for your school! The competitions runs until 8 November 2024.

Dragons Love Underpants is available from all well stocked independent booksellers, and if they don’t have it they can probably order it for you.

Disclosure: We were gifted a free copy of Dragons Love Underpants in return for an honest review. All opinions are our own. Many thanks to Bloomsbury for inviting us to be part of this book tour.
