Advent Calendar & Stocking Fillers for Kids Age 10+

It’s the last day of November, and I’ve just been filling my children’s Advent calendars for tomorrow. We do refillable Advent calendars every year, and I’ve been collecting things to go in them over the last few months. It’s a bit late now if you haven’t already got something sorted, but in reference for next year, I though I’d do a quick share of what’s going in them. Now that my boys are age 10 and 14, they pretty much get the same.

I always go a mix of edible and non-edible fillings. Depends a bit on how much the non-edible fillings cost, I’ll do fewer if they are pricier and then fill up the rest with cheaper sweets or chocolates. I try to stick to no more than £20 per calendar. Starting to collect items earlier in the year means being able to shop for little bits in the sales too, which helps to keep costs down.

For non-edible, this year we have:

  • Pez dispenser
  • Shower gel sachet
  • Lego mini fig
  • Deddy Bear blind bag key chain (got one in a conference goodie bag, so only had to buy one more)
  • Expandable towel (the ones you throw in water and they unfold)
  • Shoe lace decorations (another conference goodie bag item)
  • Festive stickers – never too old for stickers!
  • Christmas tissues
  • Mini highlighters
  • Bead bracelet set
  • Mini spirograph
  • Mini magnetic bookmarks
  • Lip balm
  • Erasers

For edible fillings, we have:

  • Pez refillers
  • Chocolates/ mini chocolate bars (Freddo, Crunchie)
  • Candy bracelet
  • Chewy candy
  • Popping candy
  • Baked apple bar
  • Skittles
  • And those plastic fruit shaped things are filled with jelly (also from the conference goodie bag)
