Wallace & Gromit’s Musical Marvels – Save the Date! [AD]

So here’s the thing, we do a lot of cultural stuff as a family, but one thing we’ve not really exposed the kids to is classical music , which is something I would like to change. My husband and I both love classical music, and we’ve played them classical pieces at home, but we’ve never taken them to the theatre to sit through a whole performance of live classical music.

So when I was approached and asked if we would like to preview and review Wallace & Gromit’s Musical Marvels, I jumped at the chance. We all love Wallace & Gromit, so I thought having  something they already knew and loved would help to bridge the gap.

Wallace & Gromit Musical Marvels 2019 from Carrot Productions & Aardman

The show sees Wallace prepare to perform his musical masterpiece My Concerto in Ee Lad.  With help from his best friend Gromit, what could possibly go wrong? The interactive experience features specially created animations as well as live musical accompaniment from the Picture House Orchestra. This is a fantastic opportunity for young audiences to experience live classical music for the first time, in an accessible, fun way. The show is presented by internationally renowned musician, actor and director Matthew Sharp.

But wait, there’s more! After a short interval, there will be a screening of the award winning film <The Wrong Trousers> which I am super excited about as it’s my favourite Wallace & Gromit film ever (and features a museum heist)! This will also be accompanied by a live orchestra, which will be a world first. The full show, with both parts, lasts 80 minutes including a 15 minute interval, and is recommended for age 3+

When And Where?

Wallace & Gromit’s Musical Marvels is touring the UK from 15th May until 9th June. We have to wait until June to see it here in Edinburgh, but before then you can also catch it at various venues in England, and also in Cardiff in Wales, and after Edinburgh it heads over to the West coast to finish its run in Glasgow. You can find a complete list of tour dates and venues on the Carrot Productions website.
