50 Great Museum Themed Books for Kids

50 Great Museum Books for Kids

Happy International Museums Day! For this week’s book round-up, I thought I would do something a little bit different, so I’m sharing a whistle-stop tour of our 50 (!) favourite museum books for kids! You can see me introduce them all in my YouTube video below, and further down you can find a list of all the titles and authors. I’ll no doubt be reviewing some of these books in more detail some time down the line but for now, to celebrate International Museums Day, let’s take it away:

One of my favourite museum picture books is actually missing from this list, because it seems to have disappeared from our library. It’s called ‘Clara Button and the Magical Hat Day‘, by Amy de la Haye & Emily Sutton, and features the V&A museum in London.

Do you have any favourite kids books featuring museums, either from list this or any others? If not, which book from this list takes your fancy? Do feel free to share in the comment below!

Love the video! My kids love the Maisy books as well. I can’t wait to take my kids to their first museum soon!

Goodness, what a great list! You’ve got a few of our favourites but a whole heap I’ve never heard of… will have to try them out! I have a couple of others you could add – Flat Stanley (chapter book and picture book versions) feature an art museum heist at ‘The Famous Museum’ (I think it’s called!), and one of my all-time favourites is Anthony Browne’s ‘The Shape Game’, where a mum drags her reluctant family around an art gallery.
Great list – will keep us busy a while…

Wow that’s quite a list and lots on there that we haven’t read! I had no idea that there were so many kids books that featured museums – well done compiling it!

That’s a great list. Our grandsons have read some of them but there are quite a few they haven’t. As they love museums I’ll have to check some of them out for them.

This list must have taken you ages to put together. What a great idea! Just pinned it to my parenthood board on Pinterest. Always always looking for book suggestions! Thank you!
