{DIY} Advent Candles

30 November 2012

Every year, for as long as I can remember, we’ve always had a traditional Advent wreath, made from pine branches and decorated with red candles. But this year I spotted these fantastic Advent candles at IKEA and decided we’d have something different for a change.

Then we spontaneously decided to visit my sister for the 1st of Advent this weekend, so I wanted to get her some candles too. But sadly they were so popular that IKEA had sold out. Then I discovered these sheets of wax at a local store. They come in a pack of various different colours, and all you need to do is cut out shapes with a blunt knife (I put a wooden board underneath to protect our table) and press them on to your candles.

So, I bought a pack of plain red candles and chose a sheet of gold wax to decorate them with. And in 1,2,3,4 steps later, I had my very own set of Advent candles. We’re off this morning to see my sister and deliver the candles. We’ll be back next Monday.
