{DIY} Travel Journal

27 September 2012

As soon as one of my best friends from Edinburgh said earlier in the year that she would come and visit us in Berlin in Autumn, I knew exactly what to make her for her birthday. She loves notebooks, so I decided to make her a very special notebook for her trip: a Berlin travel journal. I went to buy a blank notebook to start off with, and found one with the Berlin skyline on the front cover – perfect!

To create the inside pages, all you need is a pair of scissors, some old magazines, a glue stick and a pen. I already had some ideas for the sections I wanted to have, but also let myself become inspired as I combed through the magazines. The first half of the journal is lots of fun sections including the journey; first impressions; holiday playlist, favourite travel movies & favourite travel reads; museums & other sightseeing; ‘What I wore’ and ‘What I ate’, and highlights. The second half of the journal is divided into space for notes and photos. At the back there is a little pocket to keep tickets, postcards etc, which I labelled ‘souvenirs’.

My friend is currently visiting for a long weekend to celebrate my birthday. She absolutely loved the notebook, and started filling it in right away on her arrival. If you want to create your own travel journal, either for yourself or as a personalised gift for someone, here are some pictures of the inside pages:
